Weekly Reminders Poster

September is moving fast. If you have not turned in your immunization records for your child to attend school by 8:00 am Wednesday morning, your child will be excluded from attending. I do not wish to do this; however, I must follow the law. The exclusions begin Wednesday Morning, September 25th.

Parents, we have had several incidents of students bringing toys to school. This serves as a distraction in the classroom. Please do not allow your child to bring toys to school. We have so much to accomplish at our school, toys just get in the way and cause problems for the teacher and your child. Please help with this.

We are past due on applications to the Boys and Girls Club. Please, if you have an application, send it back even if you do not want to participate. Other children would like the chance to be included. I can only allow 40 eligible students. We use many forms of data to identify eligible students. I will begin sending out a second round of Applications Monday for those not returning applications.

Wednesday is an Early Release Day for Nash County Students. Dismissal will be at 1:00 on Wednesday, September 25th.

SHES will be conducting our first Lockdown Drill for the year on Monday Morning. Please talk with your child about the importance of this practice drill and to follow instructions. We do this for everyone’s safety. This can be especially scary for our smallest eagles, our pre-K and Kindergarten students. We will be preparing them first thing Monday morning for the drill that will occur later in the morning hours.

I am finally able to tell you that the new Infinite Campus is in the process of being cleaned up. This will enable our programs to run successfully. Pickmykid will be coming back online for our K-2 students this week. New tags will be sent home. I will send out a message when they are to be in your child’s book bag.

Also, with Infinite Campus being cleaned up, I will have to make sure our classes fit the State class size law. This may involve moving some students around, Especially in our Kindergarten. Students already moved will not be affected. Communication will be sent from the teacher about any moves made.

Next week our 4th and 5th grade students will be trying out a new schedule for their classes. This is a strategy to Capture the strengths of our teachers with stringer instruction and better prepare students for the end of the year. AS you know we have raised our school performance grade. We must keep pushing to move forward. You will be notified of the new schedule once we see if it works for our needs.

Just a heads up, we are having our first “Goodies for Guardians at 9:00 am, October 4th. PTT Meeting on October 8th and our Trunk or Treat event is coming October 18th. More to come on these events.

Thank you and it is a pleasure serving as your Principal.
